What Went Well?
Now that the proposals are approved, the students are REALLY getting a lot accomplished. They are focused and motivated.

Monday was the first day I used the Mentor Log sheet. It works beautifully as a mid-range planning tool. Both my groups mapped out their goals for the week, identifying who will be responsible for each. - MD

What didn't go so well?
At times, the challenge remains on getting the students to focus on the foundation and "big picture" matters instead of perseverating on the small stuff (i.e. adding the cool factor instead of working on the substance, considering ideas that should be focused on later, etc.)

Bake sales on campus as a fundraiser were not approved since it conflicts with the Community Service. This presented a challenge as some groups had to go back and get students to create a new proposal.

Suggestions for Next Year?
I feel the challenge is condensing the whole project into such a compact time table. I would like to see the same amount of time used for Capstone (preferably more), but stretched out over more time. This way the students have time reaching out to people beyond GCDS and see their efforts build momentum over time.
