What Went Well?
  • Enthusiasm and excitement generated (MD)
  • Two of my three groups had some cool ideas
  • Mine was great. 3 excited motivated guys
  • "I think we had a good start, Mr. Beck" -Kendrick
  • Sophia said, "Never in a million years would I have guessed that you [Lily and Tarquin] were also into it [marine biology]."
  • Great start; we'll hone-in on a specific topic tomorrow. Good stuff, team!

What Didn't Go So Well?
  • Students were still quite confused re: the concept of the project (MD)
  • "Why can't I be in Axel's group?!"
  • "My survey isn't at all what I meant -can I switch groups?"
  • It was ok.
  • The unknown for them is daunting.
  • Could have used another 20 minutes.
  • Ditto on the time piece!!!
  • It was okay
  • One group is a bit quiet
  • Olivia is seriously dominating the other one
  • We definitely need tomorrow to come up with our topic
  • The other group will be a looooonnng process

Suggestions for Next Year?
  • Use examples from this year? (MD)
  • Begin the special schedule with the first group meeting. This could absolutely be a productive two-hour block.
