What Didn't Go So Well?
Our group did not use the rubrics enough with the students up front. We reviewed them towards the end which seemed counterintuitive as far as setting the students up for success.
The rubrics did not appear to guide student and teacher work
We completed the rubrics a few weeks after the Capstone time was "over." This made it feel disconnected and not as valuable for the teacher and student
Suggestions for Next Year?
Check to make sure rubrics have child-friendly language
Have students self-assess using rubrics after presentation
Teacher assess using same rubrics
Students and teacher meet to share rubrics and debrief
